Divide established clumps (rhizome) during early spring.
Botanic information
Leaf: The dark green linear leaves have short hairs at the base that become longer at the apex.
Flower: The 6-tiny flowers appear in spikelets that are up to 65mm (2½in) long and arranged in a panicle that tends to be pendant and appears during spring.
Fruit: The small seed is not commonly seen and the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively.
