Botanic information
Leaf: The flat 3-ranked linear leaves have finely toothed margins and keel with smooth sheaths that may be tufted at the nodes.

Flower: The spikelets are arranged in a corymbose cluster normally with 2-flowers and are up to 400 mm (14in) long. The glumes are discolours with the lowest and upper most empty. They appear during summer.

Fruit: The small nut is drupe-like nut with a stylar base. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
