Sow fresh seeds during early spring.
Divide established clumps (rhizome) during spring.
Botanic information
Leaf: The dark green linear leaves are terete and taper to an acuminate apex. They are up to 12mm (1/2in) wide and have septa separating large air spaces.
Flower: The spikelets are up to 4cm (2in) long and contain bisexual flowers. They are arranged in a spike that is held above the foliage on a slender scape and appear from late spring to early summer.
Fruit: The obovoid nut has 3-sides and is flattened. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
