Propagation
Sow fresh seeds during early spring and pre-soak seeds in heated water 13º to 18ºC (55º-64ºF) for 24 hours. Seeds may require scarification.

Take cuttings during summer and place in a protected environment.

Note:
This shrub tolerates temporary inundation and salt laden winds. It also grows in smoggy city areas with wet winters and dry summers. In its native environment it is becoming a rare shrub.

Botanic information
Leaf: The glabrous phyllodes are narrow elliptical to broad lanceolate up to 10mm (1/2in) wide. They have a ciliate margins and an acute to cuspidate apex. When the leaves are young they have a sticky texture.

Flower: The pale yellow bisexual tubulate flowers have inconspicuous sepals and petals with numerous prominentstamens. They are lemon scented and are arranged in a globular head up to 8 mm (? in)wide,and appear solitary or are arranged in pairs in the leaf axils. They appear from late spring to early ssummer.

Fruit: The flattened legume is tan-brown when mature and is up to 5 mm wide. It contains numerous hard coated seeds. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.

General information on pruning Acacia species
Tolerates a light prune after flowering back to a node, remove any dead wood back to the collar. If there is insufficient light towards the base of the tree prune the crown to allow the light in. The plants tend to be easily damaged by wind or borers, and damaged material should be removed.
