Propagation
Sow fresh seeds during spring and maintain a temperature of 19º to 27º C. (66º to 81º F).The seeds are not normally available and when sown it takes 2 to 3 months to germinate.
Divide established clumps (rhizome) during spring usually slow to recover.
Botanic information
Leaf: The glossy dark green fronds have 4 to 10 narrow lanceolate leaflets of unequal width and the margins are entire, becoming toothed towards the apex. The petiole is up to 350 mm (12in) long.
Flower: The pink female cyathiform flowers have 3-sepals and 3-petals that are arranged spirally in a panicle that appears in the upper leaf sheaths as a short spine with varying number of branchlets. The flowers are rarely produced but do appear during summer.
Fruit: The small whitish drupe is globose with a fleshy mesocarp containing 1 seed or lobed with each lobe having a seed and giving the appearance of separate fruit. The small seed is not commonly seen and the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively.
