Propagation
Sow fresh seeds during spring and maintain a temperature of 18º to 21º C. (64º to 75º F).
Divide offsets during spring.
Botanic information
Leaf: The large dark green oblong leaves are arranged in two ranks terminally on the trunk with their bases overlapping. The texture is thin-leathery and the petiole is up to 4m (12ft) long and has a prominent groove along the surface.
Flower: The tiny flowers are produced in a boat-like spathe which appears in the leaf axils and has 6-teples. The large flower-heads appear amongst the foliage during summer.
Fruit: The small capsule is not commonly seen and the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively.
