Botanic information
Leaf: The leaf shape varies from linear-oblong to elliptical with a prominent mid rib and the underside has silvery scales. The leaves are up to 8mm (? in)wide and the upper surface is dotted with glands.The leaves are arranged alternatly along the stems that are covered in small brown scales.
Flower: The prolific 5-petalled stellate flowers have protruding stamens and are arranged in an axillary umbel with a short thick peduncle that is scaly and appears during spring.
Fruit: The small capsule is dehiscent producing solitaryseeds that are not commonly seen and the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively.
