Propagation
Sow fresh seeds during early spring or when available in pots then place in a cold frame to germinate. Pre-soak the seeds in heated water 13º to 18ºC (55º-64ºF) for 24 hours and may require scarification.

Botanic information
Leaf: The bipinnate phyllodes are arranged on ribbed stems and have 10 to 20 pairs of smooth oblong leaflets that are up to 20 mm (1 in) long. They are dark green above and paler below with a raised gland between the lowest pair.

Flower: The bisexual tubulate flowers have inconspicuous sepals and petals with prominentstamens are arranged in loose axillary raceme in the upper part of the tree or in a terminal panicle. They appear from late summer to autumn.

Fruit: The red-brown flat oblong pod is up to 14 mm (1in) wide and may be constricted between the seeds. The immature pods have reddish margins and the black seeds are oval with a boat-shaped aril.

Tolerates a light prune after flowering back to a node, remove any dead wood back to the collar. If there is insufficient light towards the base of the tree prune the crown to allow the light in. The plants tend to be easily damaged by wind or borers, and damaged material should be removed.
