Leaf: The glossy leathery leaves are elliptical to ovate-obovate with an acute apex and a short petiole

Flower: The small salverform flowers vary from red to white and are arranged in a terminal corymb-like cyme, appearing profusely during summer.

Fruit: The small berry is not commonly seen and the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively.
