Propagation
Sow fresh seeds during early spring and pre-soak seeds in heated water for 24 hours. The seeds may require scarification.

Botanic information
Leaf: The variable leaves are elliptical to linear and may be flat or terete with a prickly margin to broad and divided with an acuminate apex. The texture is thick-leathery and its colour varies from dull to light green.

Flower: The white tubulate flowers have a pedestal up to 7 mm (¥ in)long and are arranged in an upright terminal raceme that appears from early spring to early summer.

Fruit: The red-brown follicle is woody up to 10 mm (? in) wide and persistent on the plant. The seeds are up to 14 mm (? in) long with a marginal winged that extends down the lateral side only and the seeds germinate readily.

General pruning information
These plants tolerate a light prune to a node normally after flowering. Do not prune into old wood as it will not regenerate and if the plant has become leggy and woody it will not regenerate after a hard prune. It requires replacement.
