Propagation
Sow fresh seeds during early spring and pre-soak seeds in heated water for 24 hours. The seeds may require scarification.


Botanic information
Leaf: The dull green leaves are broad linear with an obtuse apex with 5 to 7-prominentlongitudinal veins on the upper surface.

Flower: The red to pink tubulate flowers are arranged in an axillary spike that is up to 100mm (4in) long and appears amongst the foliage during spring.

Fruit: The ovoid woody follicle has a rounded apex and is up to 16 mm (? in) wide. The cuneate shaped winged seed is a 22 mm (µ in) long by 9 mm (? in) wide.

General pruning information
These plants tolerate a light prune to a node normally after flowering. Do not prune into old wood as it will not regenerate and if the plant has become leggy and woody it will not regenerate after a hard prune. It requires replacement.
