Propagation
Sow fresh seeds during early spring and pre-soak seeds in heated water for 24 hours. The seeds may require scarification.
Botanic information
Leaf: The leaves are obovate to oval up to 55 mm (2? in) wide with a leathery texture and has a coarsely serrated to entire margin.
Flower: The small tunulate flowers have a pedestal up to 9 mm (? in) long with perianth segments that are 4 mm (? in)long with an exserted pistil to 8 mm (? in)long. They are arranged in an axillary raceme that appears from late autumn to winter.
Fruit: The nut-like follicle is woody and has a 2-toothed crest that is triangular-like in shape on the top.
General pruning information
These plants tolerate a light prune to a node normally after flowering. Do not prune into old wood as it will not regenerate and if the plant has become leggy and woody it will not regenerate after a hard prune. It requires replacement.
