Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 18º to 21º C. (64º to 75º F).

Take soft tip or semi hardwood cuttings from summer to autumn.

Culture
Hard prune older established plants to a node during late winter and lightly prune after flowering to thicken up. In cold climates the plant may be treated as an herbaceous perennial.

Botanic information
Leaf: The leaf shape is elliptical to elliptical-ovate with an acuminate apex and a petiole up to 12 mm (½ in) long with a cuneate base. The upper surface dark blue green and the underside is pubescent. The leaves are a feature of the plant and turn purplish during autumn.

Flower: The tiny bisexual tubulate flowers have 4 to 5-calyx lobes that are persistent on the plant and 4 to 6-imbricate petals. They are arranged in an axillary cyme that is up to 38 mm (1½ in) wide and appear on the new season's growth during summer.

Fruit: The berry-like fruit appears in dense clusters and is an attractive feature of the plant. The small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
