Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring.
Divide established clumps during autumn or early spring and space at 300 mm (1 ft). Try not to dislodge the soil from the roots and replant immediately.
Culture
Ensure that the crown of the plant (the place where new shoots arise) is not buried too deeply when planting as this can lead to rotting and possibly death of the plant.
Botanic information
Leaf: The leaf shape varies from ovate to lanceolate with a twisted petiole and they are scattered alternately along erect stems. The apex is acuminate.
Flower: There are 4 to 12 funnelform flowers arranged in a terminal umbel on a lax leafy stem during summer. The colour ranges from white, lilac to pink-red and have spotted throats.
Fruit: The ovary is inferior and the small capsule has many ovules and the small black seeds have endosperm. The small seed is not commonly seen and the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively.
