Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F).
Take cuttings during summer apply bottom heat.
Note:
It is regarded as a weed in Australia and care should be taken as the foliage is poisonous.
Botanic information
Leaf: The blue-green pinnate leaves are composed of 9 to 17 ovate leaflets that have coarsely serrated margins. When the leaves are crushed they give off an unpleasant smell.
Flower: The brick-red tubulate flowers have 5-sepals and petals with the upper petals forming a hood over the lower petals. They are arranged in a terminal spike-like raceme that appears from spring to summer.
Fruit: The small inflated capsule is papery and contains numerous seeds. The small seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
