Botanic information
Leaf: The leathery elliptical leaves are arranged in whorls of 3 towards the end of the branches. The apex is abruptly acuminate and the petiole is short.

Flower: The creamy-white tubulate flowers have overlapping petals and the calyx is spathe-like. They appear solitary from winter to early spring.

Fruit: The ovoid woody berry is crowned with the persistant calyx. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
