Propagation
Sow fresh seeds during early spring and pre-soak seeds in heated water 13º to 18ºC (55º-64ºF) for 24 hours. The seeds may require scarification.
Botanic information
Leaf: The bright green phyllodes are broad ovate to linear-lanceolate with an obtuse apex and tapering towards the base. There are 2-prominent viens on the upper surface and the texture is leathery.
Flower: The bisexual tubulate flowers have inconspicuous sepals and petals with prominentstamens. They appear in profuse small ball-like cluster with short stalks and are solitary or arranged in pairs in the leaf axils during spring.
Fruit: The leathery pods are elongated and contain numerous hard, dark seeds.
General information on pruning Acacia species
Tolerates a light prune after flowering back to a node, remove any dead wood back to the collar. If there is insufficient light towards the base of the tree prune the crown to allow the light in. The plants tend to be easily damaged by wind or borers, and damaged material should be removed.
