Propagation
Sow fresh seed during early spring and pre-soak seeds in heated water for 24 hours. The seeds may require scarification.

Note:
In some countries it has become naturalised and is regarded as a weed.

Botanic information
Leaf: The dark green acicular leaves are terete and the apex has a stiff point.

Flower: The small silky creamy-white tubulate flowers have a short pedicle and are arranged in an axillary cluster that appears from late winter to spring.

Fruit: The globular woody follicle has a short smooth beak and contains winged seeds. The fruit is persistent on the plant.

General pruning information
These plants tolerate a light prune to a node normally after flowering. Do not prune into old wood as it will not regenerate and if the plant has become leggy and woody it will not regenerate after a hard prune. It requires replacement.
