Propagation
Sow fresh seed during early spring and pre-soak seeds in heated water 13º to 18ºC (55º-64ºF) for 24 hours. Seeds may require scarification.


Botanic information
Leaf: The grey-green phyllodes are broad lanceolate with an obtuse apex and tapering towards the base.

Flower: The 30 to 50 tiny pale-yellow bisexual tubulate flowers have inconspicuous sepals and petals with prominentstamens and are arranged in a ball-like cluster up to 10mm (1/2in) wide. These may be solitary or arranged in a raceme and appear from late winter to spring or sporadically during summer.

Fruit: The red brown pods have a leathery texture and may have a coiled appearance. The margin is thick and the pod is constricted between the black hard seeds.

Tolerates a light prune after flowering back to a node, remove any dead wood back to the collar. If there is insufficient light towards the base of the tree prune the crown to allow the light in. The plants tend to be easily damaged by wind or borers, and damaged material should be removed.
