Propagation
Sow fresh seed during early spring and pre-soak seeds in heated water 13º to 18ºC (55º-64ºF) for 24 hours. Seeds may require scarification.

Take soft tip or semi hardwood cuttings from summer to autumn.

Note:
If plant parts are ingested they may cause stomach upset.

Culture
Dogwoods prefer a slightly acidic soils and protection from strong drying winds with the roots kept moist and cool. Generally Dogwoods require little pruning and the tree species may have the crown lifted revealing the trunk.


Botanic information
Leaf: The leaf shape varies from ovate to elliptical, with an acute to acuminate apex and rounded base. It has a wrinkled or blistered surfaced and is glaucous on the underside.
Reddish-brown pubescent buds are valvate and appressed.

Flower: The small yellowish-white stellate flowers are arranged in a flat terminal cyme that is up to 50m (2in) wide and appears in late spring.

Fruit: The strawberry-like fleshy drupe is bluish-white, ellipsoidal and is arranged in loose clusters but doesn`t persist on the plant. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
