Propagation
Take soft tip cuttings of non-flowering shoots during the growing period and insert in a well drained sandy medium and placed in a protected humid position. Apply bottom heat to encourage fast root development.
Botanic information
Leaf: The ovate to oblong leaves are densely covered in purple velvety hairs and are arranged in opposite pairs. The underside is a lighter colour and the leaves tend to fold downwards along the margins.
Flower: The scarlet tubulate flowers have 2-upper lobes that are united to form a hood and the lower 3-lobes are expanded. They are solitary or arranged in a small axillary cluster appearing from spring to summer.
Fruit: The small capsule is not commonly seen and the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively.
