Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring.
Take soft tip cuttings of non-flowering shoots during the growing period.
Divide established clumps (rhizome) throughout the year.
Note:
Care must be taken as this quick growing perennial may become invasive under optimum climatic conditions.
Botanic information
Leaf: The bright green leaves are lanceolate to oblong and arranged in opposite pairs. They become smaller towards the top of the stem and are covered in fine tomentose.
Flower: The blue tubulate flowers have 2-lips. The upper lip is hooded and the lower petals are spreading. They are arranged in a terminal raceme that appears from late summer to autumn.
Fruit: This perennial produces viable seed via a nutlet that develops inside the calyx. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
