Propagation
Surface sow fresh seed during spring in a well-drained media, and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F). Prick out and pot up when they are large enough to handle.


Botanic information
Leaf: The juvenile leaves are elliptical to orbicular and are very distinctive and the glossy dark green lanceolate adult leaves have a dull green underside and the slender petiole is red.

Flower: The cylindrical to urceolate buds are a reddish-brown with a hemispherical opercula that has a pointed tip. The flowers are arranged in a terminal umbel with up to 11 flowers and appear towards the ends of the leafless branches during summer.

Fruit: The ribbed woody urceolate capsules have descending valves that are deeply enclosed and a short peduncle and appear ribbed when dry.

General pruning information
Eucalyptusspecies require little pruning apart from removal of damaged or dead wood, which should be taken off at the collar. If the tree is cut back hard it will produce epicormic shoots and the crown may be lifted or thinned by removal of selected branches.
