Propagation
Sow seed when ripe in pots and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F), may requires scarification or pre soaking in acidic water for several hours.

Take cuttings during summer apply bottom heat.


Botanic information
Leaf: The leathery glossy dark green lanceolate leaves are paler underneath with a prominent mid vein and have a mucronate apex.

Flower: There are 7-sessile tubulate flowers arranged in a terminal cluster that is enclosed by reddish bracts and have protruding styles. They are nectar rich and bird attracting and appear from spring to autumn.

Fruit: The woody follicle has a hard texture with a short beak and each valve has a long horn. The winged seeds are dispersed by birds and wind.
