Propagation
The seeds have a hard coat and must be drilled or nicked to allow moisture in before sowing. (Not normally used)
Divide the rhizomes from late winter to early spring.
Culture
If grown under glass place in indirect well-lit area using a loamless potting mixes in a deep pot. Apply liquid fertiliser monthly during thegrowing period and keep moist.
Seeds germinate and rhizomes shoots after fire or disturbance.
Botanic information
Leaf: The light green leaves are long lanceolate and clasp the stem at the base. The upper surface is prominently veined and have a obvious mid rib and the apex is acuminate.
Flower: The red to yellow funnelform flowers have a limp appearance with 3-petals and 3-sepals and are arranged in a narrow terminal panicle that appears above the foliage from spring to summer.
Fruit: The capsule produces black globular hard-coated seeds that are distributed by birds and gravity. The seed has a long viability period but germinates quickly once the seed coat has broken down. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
