Propagation
Divide established clumps (rhizome) during spring.

Note:
It is controlled by cutting and bagging seed heads or cutting the stems from the thick rhizome and applying glyphosate by brush to the wounds. It may take up to 2 years to eradicate.


Botanic information
Leaf: The light green linear leaves clasp the stem and are up to 70mm (2µin)wide.
Ligule: membranous with hairs. The margin is very finely toothed and the colour ranges from light-green to green with parallel venation and an indented midrib.

Flower: The flowers appear in small spikelets that are arranged in a dense silky panicle that is up to 600mm (2ft) long and it appears from spring to late summer. The lower spikelets contain bisexual flowers.

Fruit: The seeds tend to form throughout the year and is dispersed by water or through dumping of prunings. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
