Sow fresh seed during spring and may require soaking over night in warm water.
Botanic information
Leaf: The erect flat oblanceolate leaves are up to 20mm (µin)wide and are broadest towards the top tapering to a long petiole. The leaves tend to be crowded at the base of the flowering stem.
Flower: The creamy-white tubulate flowers have spreading lobes that form 2-lips. The upper lip is composed of 2-lobes and the lower lip has 3-lobes. They appear in a short dense spike that is arranged in a corymbose panicle that appears from late winter to spring.
Fruit: The small nut is hard and covered in fine hairs and the seeds spread by birds or dispersed by gravity.The seeds germinate after fire or disturbance.
