This plant is not normally cultivated for ornamental purposes in Australia.
Sow seed during spring.
Botanic information
Leaf: The leaves are ovate to lanceolate and variy in size depending on the availability of nutrients. During winter the leaves become reddish and it may be deciduous in cooler climates.
Flower: The white-green cyathiform flowers have a short pedicle, almost sessile and are arranged in an erect raceme that appears from late winter to spring.
Fruit: The berry is red-purple becoming black with 8-black seeds that have a hard seed coat and a long viability period. These are arranged in a compact terminal spike-like cluster. It is dispersed by birds and normally germinates in bare open sunny soils.
