Propagation
This plant is not normally cultivated for ornamental purposes.
Sow seed during spring in a well-drained moist media.
Botanic information
Leaf: The wrinkled mid-green sessile lanceolate to linear leaves clasp the stem and are hairy on the undersides. The margins are serrated and the apex is acute to acuminate.
Flower: The small mauve to pink salverform flowers are arranged in a dense spike, which is in turn is arranged in a corymbose panicle. It is held above the foliage on a long slender scape and appears throughout summer.
Fruit: The small fruit is schizocarp (a dried fruit that breaks into 4 sections) containing one seed which germinates easily in bare disturbed soils.
