Propagation
Sow fresh seed during early spring and pre-soak seeds in heated water 13º to 18ºC (55º-64ºF) for 24 hours. Seeds may require scarification (peeling treatment).
Take semi hardwood cuttings taken in autumn or spring. Grafted onto G. 'Poorinda Royal Mantle' or G. robustaroot stock.
Botanic information
Leaf: The sub-sessile bright green pinnate leaves have 5 to 10 lax narrow linear leaflets that are up to 150mm (6in) long. The margins are revolute giving the leaflet a needle-like appearance.
Flower: The small red to pink tubulate flowers have a pedicle up to 15mm (?in) long with strongly curved oblong perianth segments and an exserted arched style that is up to 35mm (1?in) long. The flowers are arranged in a cylindrical raceme that appears during early spring and the flowers are bird pollinated.
Fruit: The oblong to elliptical fruit is up to 12mm (½in) wide with a thick pericarp and contain oblong seeds to 8mm (?in) long with flat margins. The small seeds are viable but the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively.
