Propagation
Sow fresh seed during early spring and pre-soak seeds in heated water 13º to 18ºC (55º-64ºF) for 24 hours. Seeds may require scarification (peeling treatment).
Take semi-hardwood cuttings in spring or autumn and care should be taken not to disturb the roots when potting up.
Botanic information
Leaf: The sessile dull green trifoliate leaves have 2 to 3 narrow linear leaflets (lobes) that are stiff and pungent.
Flower: The small white to cream tubulate flowers have a pedicle up to 7mm (¥in) long and the perianth segments are cylindrical with thick style that is 7mm (¥in) long. The flowers are arranged in aterminal cluster that is up to up to 30mm (1?in) long and appears from late winterto early spring.
Fruit: The oblong fruit is up to 10mm (?in) wide with a thick pericarp to 2mm (2/16in). The smooth elliptical seeds are up to 8mm (?in) long with recurved margins and a prominent central ridge. The plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
