Propagation
Pre-soaking the seeds for 24 hours in tipped water and the seeds may need slight scarification prior to sowing in spring.


Botanic information
Leaf: The trifoliate leaves have pubescent mid to dark green leaflets that are ovate to elliptical. There are 2-stipules at the base of the petiole and the apex varies from acute to obtuse and may be notched.

Flower: The red papillionate flowers have a recurved upper petal and the 2-winged petals with a purplish blotched keel that hangs below. They are arranged in an axillary raceme that appears from winter to spring.

Fruit: The greenish brown flattened pod is covered in fine hairs and contains numerous hard coated seeds.
