Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 18º C. Pre-soak seeds in hot water for 12 hours before sowing.
Take soft cuttings during early summer.
Botanic information
Leaf: The mid-green to dark green leaves are ovate with a cordate base and the texture is rough leathery. The margins are spined or finely serrated and the underside is pale green and the petiole is short.
Flower: The red to yellow papilionate flowers have a purplish pink keel and a dark red central blotch. They are arranged in terminal raceme that is up to 150mm (6in) long and appears from spring to early summer.
Fruit: The small seed is not commonly seen and the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively.
