Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 19º to 24º C. (66º to 77º F).
Take cuttings during spring and placed on a misting bench and apply bottom heat.
Divide established plants during spring.
Botanic information
Leaf: The leaves are obovate to spathulate with a crenate to entire margin. The upper surface is crinkly with silver-whitish markings and the apex is acuminate.
Flower: The tiny 3 to 4 tepalled cream coloured crateriform flowers are arranged in an axillary cluster that appears during summer. The flowers are not normally a feature of the plant.
Fruit: The small seed is not commonly seen and the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively.
Culture
This plant requires temperatures above 12ºC (55ºF) during winter and placed in bright indirect light. It is an easy plant to grow and propagate.
Watering
During summer water regularly and allow the soil to partially dry out between re-watering.
In winter reduce watering and use tepid water. Do not allow the soil to become wet.
Humidity
As an indoor plant mist the leaves regularly during daylight in summer to maintain a humid environment.
Re-pot
Plants can be potting up during spring but in some countries Pilea cadiereiis regarded as an annual.
It may become leggy with age and forming a woody base requiring a light trim to rejuvenate.
