Propagation
Sow fresh seed during autumn in pots and place in a cold frame to germinate.

Divide established clumps from late spring to early summer.


Botanic information
Leaf: The arching dark green long linear leaves have an acuminate apex. The cultivar 'Evergold' has a broad creamy central stripe.

Flower: The tiny flowers are arranged in a brown spike up to 30mm (1¥in) longand appear amongst the foliage during spring. The female and male flowers are arranged above each other and the female flower is enclosed in a bladder-like perigynium and has 1-style and 2 or 3 stigmas.

Fruit: The tiny 3-angled fruit is a flattened convex-shape nut and is surrounded by a persistent perigynium. The small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
