Botanic information
Leaf: The ascending bipinnate mid green fronds are composed of deltoid-shaped (triangular) segments that have a notched and toothed margin towards the apex that extends into a point giving the a fish tail-like shape.

Flower: The 2-tiny male and 1-female flowers have 3-sepals and 3-petals that are arranged alternately in pendulous spike that is up to 450mm (30in) long and appears in the leaf axils. The female flowers have a 2 to 3 cell ovary with a single ovule and appear from spring to simmer.

Fruit: The globose drupe is yellow-green maturing to dark red and containing one seed. The seed coat is thick and hard. Care should be taken when handling as the fruit is covered in oxalic acid crystals, which irritate the skin. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
