Culture
This grass tolerates warm temperatures compared to other cool season turfs and dislikes severe cold. Prefers a fertile moist soil and may need oversowing or mixing with other turf types to maintain suitable density.

Collar: Broad, divided, hairy margins
Sheath: reddish base, overlapping, round-glabrous
Auricles: Small and narrow *Vernation: Rolled
Width is 5 to 10 mm, dull surface, prominent veins
Flower: The inflorescence is erect to nodding appearing as a contracted panicle that appears during summer.
Fruit: The seeds are small and there is about 506,000 per kg.
