Propagation
Sow seeds when fresh and maintain a moist environment.

Take cuttings during the growing period and keep moist.

Note:
Care should be taken when selecting a site, allowing ample room for it to grow as it has vigorous invasive roots that can lift concrete and block drains.

Botanic information
Leaf: The light green linear leaves are arranged almost oppositely on the alternately arranged branchlets. The foliage turns red-brown in autumn then, sheds with the twigs. It differs fromT. distichumwhich has persistent shorter leaves that shed with the new growth in spring.

Flower: The male tassel-like cones are green turning purplish and are arranged in groups of 2-3 and are up to 150mm (6in) long. The females appear as little green balls of bracts and scales during spring. The buds occur beneath the petiole and are inconspicuous.

Fruit: The inconspicuous female cones are globular with a few scales that have thickened edges that are green ripening to purplish-brown. They appear on the preceding year`s wood and each scale has 2-seeds. This species has smaller cones than others in the genus.
