Propagation
Sow fresh seeds in a well-drained media and germination takes 6 to 12 weeks. Keep moist and apply bottom heat at 23º C. then plant up into deep pots once germinated.

Culture
If grown in a glasshouse position with bright indirect light and use a loam based soil mix.


Botanic information
Leaf: The costapalmate fronds have a long slender petiole. They are divided in to dark green linear segments that are up to 1m (3ft) long and are pendant towards the acuminate apex.

Flower: The small cyathiform flowers are arranged on a branched panicle that is up to 1m (3ft) long and appear amongst the leaf bases. The bisexual flowers consist of 3-united sepals and 3-larger ovate petals that are valvate at the apex.

There are 6-stamens that are united at the base and the flower has 3-cells with a separate 1-celled segment and is united at the top to form a single style with a tiny stigma. They are arranged on the rachillae singularly or in a cluster and may have a short pedicle.

Fruit: The ovoid drupe colour varies from blue-black to pinkish-blue and is arranged in a large nodding cluster.
