Divide the rhizome of established clumps during spring.


Botanic information

Leaf: The mid green leaves are ovate to lanceolate with prominent red pubescence along the margins. It has a short pubescent petiole and the apex is acuminate. The underside is dull green with red veins and has a soft texture.

Flower: The pendant orange-red tubulate flowers are arranged in umbel-like raceme or are solitary in the leaf axils. The pedicle is dark red and the corolla is orange with 5-spreading lobes that are spotted on the inside, becoming yellow in the throat. They appear from late spring to summer.

Fruit: The small capsule contains tiny viable seeds but the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively.
