Propagation
Prepare the seed by removing the outer fleshy layer and pre soak the seeds for 24 hours prior to sowing in spring in a sandy mix with perlite and pot up into deep pots maintaining 20º to 30ºC (68º - 86ºF) temperature.

Remove offsets during spring but transplanting may be difficult.

Culture
If grown in a glass house position the plant in indirect well-lit area and plant in a deep pot with equal part loam and course washed sand with slow release complete fertiliser.


Botanic information
Leaf: The stiff leathery textured pinnate fronds are dull green when young and mature to dark green. They have 24-oblong to lanceolate leaflets that folded inwards when young. The entire margins may be slightly toothed.

Flower: The small cylindrical male cones are not commonly seen and the felt-red ovoid female cones appear during summer on a different plant (dioecious).

Fruit: The female cones are felt-like and are a red-brown colour. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
