Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring in a well-drained media but they may be difficult to germinate.
Takes stem cuttings just below the node during the growing period and place in a well drained media.
Botanic information
Leaf: The glaucous green leathery textured leaves are linear to lanceolate up to 45mm (1µ in) wideand have cuspidate apex that is hard and pointy.
Flower: The small campanulate flowers are arranged in a terminal panicle and appears from inside the leaf rosette causing the stem to branch. The flowers only appear on mature plants and are sporadic occurring every second year or once in 10 years, during summer.
Fruit: The fruit is a large spherical fleshy berry and is arranged in large pendulous panicles. Plant numbers have decreased since the extinction of the dodo bird, which fed on this plant as the seeds required processing through the birds digestive tract in order to germinate. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
