Propagation
Surface sow fresh seed during spring in a well-drained media, and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F). Prick out and pot up when they are large enough to handle.
This plant may be grafted on to a stronger rootstock.
Botanic information
Leaf: The blue-green leathery textured adult leaves are narrow lanceolate with a prominent mid rib and a long petiole. They tend to be pendent and the juvenile leaves are ovate.
Flower: The egg-shaped buds are mealy white and appear in-groups of 3 with a peaked cap and have a 20 mm (µ in)long pedicle. The vibrant red flowers appear profusely in a pendant cluster during autumn and young trees produce flowers at an early stage.
Fruit: The large glaucous capsule is urn-shape with the valves enclosed and is an attractive feature of the tree.
General pruning information
Eucalyptusspecies require little pruning apart from removal of damaged or dead wood, which should be taken off at the collar. If the tree is cut back hard it will produce epicormic shoots and the crown may be lifted or thinned by removal of selected branches.
