Propagation
Surface sow fresh seed during spring in a well-drained media, and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F). Prick out and pot up when they are large enough to handle.
Note:
It is not suitable for urban gardens due to its size. Care should be taken when selecting a site, allowing ample room for it to grow as it has vigorous invasive roots that can lift concrete and block drains.
Botanic information
Leaf: The ovate to orbicular juvenile leaves are petiolate and are up to 180mm (7in) long. The dull green broad-lanceolate adult leaves are concolorous.
Flower: There are 7-white flowers arranged in a terminal panicle that appears from summer to autumn. The hypanthia are lightly ribbed and the stalked bud is diamond to fusiform with a rostrate operculum.
Fruit: The capsule is urceolate with faint ribs and has a short pedicle. Some of the southern forms have a barrel-shaped capsules. There are 4-deeply descending valves and the disc is moderately broad.
General pruning information
Eucalyptusspecies require little pruning apart from removal of damaged or dead wood, which should be taken off at the collar. If the tree is cut back hard it will produce epicormic shoots and the crown may be lifted or thinned by removal of selected branches.
