Propagation
Surface sow fresh seed during spring in a well-drained media, and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F). Prick out and pot up when they are large enough to handle.
Botanic information
Leaf: The ovate juvenile leaves are dull green and petiolate. The stems are quadrangular and glaucous. The glossy dark green adult leaves are narrow-lanceolate, concolorous and petiolate with strong venation.
Flower: There are 7 to 11 flowers arranged in a umbel with a short peduncle and appear from winter to spring. The hypanthia is hemispherical and the opercula are conical to horn-shape.
Fruit: The capsule is pedicellate, truncate-globular in shape with a broad disc. The 4 to 5 valves are ascending and are strongly exserted. The seeds are black, pitted with toothed edges.
General pruning information
Eucalyptusspecies require little pruning apart from removal of damaged or dead wood, which should be taken off at the collar. If the tree is cut back hard it will produce epicormic shoots and the crown may be lifted or thinned by removal of selected branches.
