Propagation
Surface sow fresh seed during spring in a well-drained media, and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F). Prick out and pot up when they are large enough to handle.
Botanic information
Leaf: The juvenile leaves are ovate to broad lanceolate, arranged oppositly and are between 80 to 160mm (6¥in) long. The dark green adult leaves are narrow-lanceolate with a yellowish petiole.
Flower: There are 7-cream flowers arranged in terminal panicle that appears during winter. The peduncles are strongly angular with the ribs extending on to the hypanthia. It has ovoid buds and the opercula is conical. The flowering period depends on the location but normally is from autumn to early winter.
Fruit: The capsule is pedicellate and is ovoid, obconical to pyriform and occurring in clusters o 3 to 9. They are slightly ribbed with 4 to 5 valves that are level with the rim or slightly enclosed.
General pruning information
Eucalyptusspecies require little pruning apart from removal of damaged or dead wood, which should be taken off at the collar. If the tree is cut back hard it will produce epicormic shoots and the crown may be lifted or thinned by removal of selected branches.
