Propagation
Sow seeds when ripe in a warm humid environment and prick out and pot up when large enough to handle.

Divide offsets during spring and place in a well-drained media.


Botanic information
Leaf: The long linear arching leaves are bluish green with broad dark green to purplish cross banding. They are arranged in a funnel like basal rosette and have a stiff leathery texture. The centre of the rosette should be kept topped up with water.

Flower: The small pale yellow tubulate flowers are arranged in 2-ranks in a spike that is accompanied with imbricate red bracts. It is held above the foliage on slender scape that emanates from the centre of the rosette. The flowering period may vary in tropical climates but normall occurs during spring.

Fruit: The small capsule contains numerous seeds with basal tufts of long straight hairs. The small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
