Propagation
Divide the rhizome during spring and place in a moist rich soil.


Botanic information
Leaf: The leathery textured leaves are broad-lanceolate and are up to 120mm (4µin)wide and may be variegated in yellow. They have an acuminate apex and the petiole is short. When crushed the leaves have a light fragrant.

Flower: The orchid-like tubulate white flowers are tinged with purple and have a yellow variegated crinkled lip that is suffused in red. The flowers are arranged in a raceme that becomes nodding and is a feature of the plant. They appear from late spring to early summer.

Fruit: The capsule is ovoid and the small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
