Propagation
Sow fresh seeds in a very well-drained media during early spring and maintain 21º C.

Desert cactusthat are woolly or spiny use a potting mix of equal parts of sterilised loam, shredded sphagnum peat and gritty washed sand with the addition of one part limestone gravel all chips to assist in strong spine formation. (Never use powdered lime or chalk)


Botanic information
Leaf: These plants have a cylindrical trunk that is covered in areoles which produce bristles and spines that are white, yellow to black and has white hairs that cover the stem.

Flower: This genus of plants forms a psudocephalium that emerges from the top of the column splitting apart the ribs. It appears like dense felt and produces a single bloom at night repetitively over a period of time. The flowers are tubular to cup-shape and commonly appear during summer.

Fruit: The globular berry is pink to red and the seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
