Divide established clumps (rhizome) during spring and reduce the foliage.

Culture
When grown Ctenanthe oppenheimianain a container use a loam based organic soil mix and keep evenly moist during summer and reduce watering during winter. The plant enjoys a crowded pot so don't repot to often and under glass place in a bright position with high humidity. During the growing period mist the leaves and fertilise every 3 weeks.


Botanic information
Leaf: The lanceolate leaves have a long slender pubescent petiole with an abruptly acuminate apex. The upper leaf surface has silver pattern in a 'V' shape and the underside is dark purplish red.

Flower: The tiny brownish tubulate flowers are arranged in an axillary spike that is enclosed on one side with papery bract and appear during summer or throughout the year in tropical regions.

Fruit: The small capsule is not commonly seen and the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively.
